| The pine tree in Seorak-dong stands on the corner to Seorak-dong in Sokcho
and is estimated to be about 500 years old. It is 16m in height and 4m
in girth. It is divided into three branches, and now while two are dead,
only one survives. There are a lot of stones near the lower part of the tree
because it is said that if someone piles up stones there, he/she can live a
long life. As the big old pine tree in Seorak-dong has folk values as
the tree of a tutelary deity and is well to be preserved for biological study,
it is designated and protected as a Natural Monument.
